With the event of mixed martial arts (MMA) becoming mainstream in the media, more and more people are looking to martial arts and self-defense classes as an alternative to the usual gym and fitness routine. At Houston Samurai Karate Dojo, we have been training in and teaching martial arts long before the media hype. We proudly bring forth this tradition to new generations of martial artists by offering a variety of classes to our students.
The Houston Samurai Karate Dojo martial arts curriculum provides a great way for adults to stay in shape. It won’t become dull or routine because as soon as you get better and continue learning, there are always more challenges ahead to keep you inspired and coming back for more!
Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate is the style of Hard and Soft martial arts, similar to the Yin and Yang concepts that balance each other for self-defense and total wellness. Martial arts training is not only about self defense, but discipline, confidence, and character development.
We believe that children and adults need a strong MIND, BODY and SOUL.
Our Grappling program is unique in that it truly teaches self-defense for the real world. Based on simple principles and instinctive movements, this reality-based system is designed to teach real self-defense in the shortest possible time.
Aiki Ju Jit Su is the base foundation of Goju Ryu Karate. Applications include pressure points, takedowns, joint locks, and grappling (ground defense).
Judo places an emphasis on throwing opponents and subduing them via pins and locks, making it an effective self-defense form.
These seminars and programs are designed for anyone who is too busy to participate in a regular Karate program.
You’ll learn to how to target attacks to the body’s most vulnerable points, so that you can defend yourself as quickly and efficiently as possible. Training can also cover situational awareness to develop an understanding of one's surroundings, learning to understand the psychology of a street confrontation, and identifying potential threats before an attack occurs.
It is perfect for those that are looking to improve their self-defense skills.
